Controversial Overwatch player Félix ‘xQc’ Lengyel made his return to competition in Contenders Trials NA.

The former Dallas Fuel main tank is competing in Trials with GOATS, a team that qualified for the competition through the Overwatch Open Division.

xQc is both one of the most popular and controversial players in Overwatch. During his time in the Overwatch League he found himself caught up in multiple dramas and was suspended twice, ultimately parting ways with Dallas before the end of Stage Two.

Contenders Trials is the first time that xQc has competed since then, although he has commented on the possibility of returning to the OWL for Season Two, and is expected to try out with the Team Canada Overwatch World Cup team.

xQc streamed his perspective on the opening matches of Contenders Trials, offering both an insight into the communication of a real competitive team and a look at his own personal play.

So far, it doesn’t seem like xQc has missed a beat in his short absence from competition, showing off some dominant individual Reinhardt play.

Unfortunately the team fell just short in both of their opening matches, losing 2-3 to both Grizzlies, who played in Season One of Contenders NA, and fellow Open Division team Second Wind.

While the squad is by no means out of the running for a spot in Season Two of Contenders, the opening matches do put them on the back foot early, with little room for error going forward.
