This is the first time the two teams have fought since the OpTic Gaming roster change. Prior to that, their last clash saw Envy come out on top with a 3-1 in the group stage of CWL Seattle.
In Anaheim OpTic came out swinging, drawing first blood with a dominant 250-104 win on Gibraltar Hardpoint. The pressure didn’t let up on Valkyrie SND, with a 6-3 win putting OpTic on match point. Flak Tower CTF completed the sweep, a 3-0 score in both the map and the match.

Once known for their slow starts on Fridays, it seems the new OpTic team doesn’t want to leave anything up to chance at CWL Anaheim. Having only relinquished a single map on a 3-0 run on day one, OpTic are on track to lock up the top seed for the winner bracket with ease.
With that loss, Team Envy now finds themselves at 1-2 in the group, having beaten compLexity but also lost to Splyce. As a result, they’re now relying on results outside their control if they’re to secure a spot in the winner bracket.
