Dallas Empire Call of Duty star James ‘Clayster’ Eubanks has said he “can’t believe” the decision to host the CDL Launch Weekend in Minnesota, especially in January.

Minnesota is one of the twelve cities represented in the franchised Call of Duty League, and local team RØKKR are bringing their CDL opponents to their hometown to kick the action off.

However, anybody that knows Minnesota knows the weather can creep pretty low at times – especially in January, deep in the heart of the winter season.

Clayster is a veteran of the CoD esports scene and two-time world champion.

In a tweet posted on January 21, Clay put his thoughts out there pretty clearly, questioning why the League opted to host the very first event of the inaugural season in Minnesota, particularly during one of the coldest months of the year.

“Can’t believe they put the first event in Minnesota in f**king January”, the Empire player said, which, although he doesn’t explicitly say it, many believe to be a comment on how cold it gets in the North Star State.

He also joked about fans not wanting to attend the event, saying he “hopes to see all ten of the fans there!”

While several fans making jokes about it, saying they’re “pretty sure he’ll be playing indoors,” some other pro players responded to him too.

Former teammate Chris ‘Simp’ Lehr of Atlanta FaZe was one of the first to respond, simply telling Clay that he’s “shook already,” while Seattle Surge’s Josiah ‘Slacked’ Berry asked “What do you mean man? Mall of America is here, it’s lit.”

There’s no doubt Minnesota will be a bit chilly throughout the event, but with the players traveling all across North America and Europe over the coming months, Clay and his peers will likely get more than their fair of sunshine and warm weather at other events.

The Call of Duty Launch Weekend is in Minnesota’s Minneapolis Armory, with all twelve teams in attendance. Despite Clay’s concerns about the event, there is no doubt fans will be incredibly excited to see the professional Call of Duty circuit kick off once again.
